Open the hotel name and Chinese address you saved offline (screenshot, notes, or printed slip). Show that to taxi/ride staff or airport help if needed.
Check airplane mode, the data line (home roaming vs travel eSIM), APN, and whether the plan has actually activated. A data plan is not the same as receiving SMS on your home number.
