TOOLS / VISA CHECKER
Can you enter China visa-free?
Answer two questions. The checker applies the entry policies published by China’s National Immigration Administration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — country lists checked 30 October 2026.
01 · CHECK
Your passport and your route
Policies change. Treat this as a planning answer, then recheck the official list for your passport before you book non-refundable tickets. Work, study and reporting trips need the matching visa even for listed passports.
02 · THE POLICIES BEHIND IT
Four ways in without a visa
Ordinary passports from 50 countries can enter for business, tourism, family visits, exchange or transit for up to 30 days. Most of the list runs to 31 December 2026; Russia runs to 31 December 2027 and Brunei has no set end date. The United Kingdom and Canada joined on 17 February 2026.
China holds mutual exemption agreements with a set of countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the UAE and Kazakhstan — typically up to 30 days for ordinary passports.
Transiting to a third country or region with a confirmed onward ticket, you can stay up to 240 hours inside the permitted area of the entry port, across 24 provinces. A round trip back to your origin does not count as transit.
Hainan island runs its own wider list, including the United States and Indonesia. Stay inside Hainan for up to 30 days.
