Chimelong Safari Park is the headline and the more time-sensitive of the two. Animals feed and move in the morning, the signature experiences end in the late afternoon, and the park's dated hours — 9:30 to 18:00 through the November 2026 period, for example — leave no evening to recover a slow start. Paradise, by contrast, often runs later and forgives a later arrival. So the order writes itself: safari park first, on your freshest day, Paradise second. If you have only one day in the resort, spend it in the safari park and leave Paradise for a return trip.

Guangzhou Chimelong, Landed: Safari Park and Paradise Tickets, Passport Entry and the Metro
Panda triplets in the morning, coasters after: two Chimelong parks, one metro station — tickets, passport entry, prices by day type and the 16:30 deadline that runs the safari day.
The short answer
Giant panda triplets almost never survive. Panda mothers can barely raise twins, and a litter of three is, in the wild and in almost every breeding centre on Earth, a story that ends early. The single exception lives in Guangzhou: three siblings born at Chimelong Safari Park who beat those odds together and grew up side by side — officially, the world's only surviving set of giant panda triplets. They share the park with the largest koala population outside Australia, in a safari park that opened in 1997 and now cares for more than 20,000 animals from over 500 species. This is not a zoo with a famous photo stop. It is a serious animal park that happens to hold two genuine world records.
Next door sits its louder sibling: Chimelong Paradise, the group's thrill park, open since 2006, all coasters, parades and night-time noise. The two parks share one metro station, one official app and one ticketing system, but they reward completely different days. The safari park is a morning park governed by last-train times; the thrill park is a ride park governed by queues. Most foreign visitors get Chimelong wrong in predictable ways: they arrive at safari-park lunchtime when the animals have gone quiet, they budget the weekday price and land on a Saturday that the park prices as a premium day, or they discover at 16:30 that the sightseeing train they came for has run its last loop.
This guide covers only the landing: which park on which day, what the tickets actually cost and which day-types trigger which price, how the real-name booking works when your document is a passport, how the queue-skip wristband really works, and how to ride Metro Lines 3 and 7 to the shared station both parks hang off. Family itinerary planning for Guangzhou as a whole lives in our Guangzhou with kids guide; this page is the park machinery, park by park.

Two parks, two clocks — the shape of a Chimelong trip
Safari day — 09:30 gates: walk straight to the sightseeing train, it stops running at 16:30
Safari morning — panda centre and koala hall while the air is still cool
Safari midday — cable car loop (10:30–17:00) over the savanna, then the walking zones
Safari deadline — self-drive area also closes 16:30; late arrivals lose the drive-through entirely
Paradise day — coasters first, while queues are short and the heat is still low
Paradise afternoon — shows, parades and the water rides as the day warms up
Paradise evening — hours stretch late in event seasons (one autumn stretch ran to 22:00); check your date
Getting there — Metro Lines 3/7 to Hanxi Changlong, Exit E, five minutes on foot, free shuttle to each gate
From Guangzhou South Station — Line 7, about 10 minutes, straight to the same station
Route by visitor
animal-first: safari park gets the full first day, Paradise is optional · What to cut: splitting the safari park across two half-days
thrill-first: Paradise on a weekday, safari park second · What to cut: the safari park on a summer afternoon
one day only: pick one park and do it properly · What to cut: the two-park dash that shortchanges both

Landing both parks, step by step
Buy through chimelong.com, the official WeChat account or mini-program, or the official Chimelong app. Every ticket is sold against a traveller's identity document: you type the document details at purchase, and the gate verifies the same document on the day — resort-wide document-swipe entry has been in force since 24 November 2020, and some packages and annual passes add a face or fingerprint check. The official pages phrase the requirement as a 'valid identity document' and, in the texts we checked, do not name the passport explicitly; overseas sales channels do list overseas passports among accepted entry documents, and overseas hotel and ticket channels describe passport holders collecting or verifying at the gate. The safe pattern: book with the passport number exactly as printed, travel with the passport itself, and keep the booking confirmation on the same phone.
The safari park runs two price levels. On ordinary weekdays the standard ticket is ¥300, with child tickets at ¥210, youth tickets at ¥240 and senior tickets at ¥210. On 'specific days' those rise to ¥350, ¥245, ¥280 and ¥245. Specific days are not just national holidays: the 2026 definition covers New Year, Spring Festival, Qingming, Labour Day, Dragon Boat Festival, the whole 1 July–31 August summer period, Mid-Autumn, National Day, the Halloween event season, New Year's Eve — and every weekend. Paradise is simpler: one flat structure with standard tickets at ¥250, child, senior and concession tickets at ¥175, and youth tickets at ¥200. Category definitions are shared: a child is 3 to under 12 years old on the visit day, or between 1.0 and 1.5 metres tall; a youth is 12–18 and over 1.5 metres; and each paying adult may bring one child under 3, or under 1.0 metre tall, free. Both parks' admission is a single all-inclusive ticket; food, shopping and a few coin-operated items inside are extra.
Both parks hang off one station: Hanxi Changlong on Metro Lines 3 and 7. Use Exit E (Exit D also works), walk about five minutes to the Chimelong Metro Plaza, and board the free shuttle buses that loop to each park gate and the resort hotels. Coming from Guangzhou South Station — the high-speed rail hub — Line 7 gets you there in about 10 minutes, which makes the resort an easy first or last day on a rail itinerary. Local buses also serve the station (routes 129, 163 and 109 among them) and the safari park stop directly (304 and 526), but the metro-plus-shuttle route is the one that needs no Chinese and no luck. At the end of the day, reverse it: shuttle back to the plaza, then the metro — do not count on flagging a car in the exit surge.
The safari park's signature experiences carry early last departures, and they are the real schedule. The sightseeing train through the drive-through savanna runs roughly 9:30–16:30, with the last train at 16:30; the self-drive area keeps the same window; the cable car runs about 10:30–17:00. So ride the train early — first thing, while animals are active and before every other visitor has the same idea — then work the walking zones: the panda centre for the triplets, the koala hall, the big-cat and African areas, using the cable car as both transport and a rest in the middle of the day. Those internal times come from park operating summaries and shift with the season, so confirm them on the official page or app for your date; the principle does not shift: anything with a last departure gets done before lunch, not after.
Visitors with their own car can drive the safari route themselves instead of riding the train, inside the same 9:30–16:30 window. The car needs its own separate vehicle ticket on top of everyone's admission. We could not confirm a current official price for that vehicle ticket — third-party guides quote figures around ¥200 per car, but treat any number not shown on the official ticket page as unconfirmed, and buy it through official channels only. For most overseas visitors the train is the better product anyway: no driving stress, a commentary, and no separate ticket to decode.
Paradise, open since 7 April 2006, is the resort's machine park: headline coasters, big pendulum rides, shows and parades, with six new machines added in 2025 including a launch coaster, a large splash ride and a pirate ship. Ride order matters more than route: hit the signature coasters in the first hour, take shows and parades in the heat of the afternoon, and save water rides for when getting wet is a relief. Hours are the trap: Paradise publishes its opening times date by date, and they swing with seasons and events — sampled dates ranged from a 10:00–19:00 pattern across the National Day opening days to 10:00–22:00 during the autumn Halloween event stretch. Never copy hours from a screenshot or a tips post; read them off the official page for your exact date the night before.
Both parks sell a paid priority product called EasyPass: a wristband that gives faster access to rides. It does not include admission — you need a normal ticket first. Critically, Chimelong does not publish a fixed official price list for it: the official ticket page states that prices are posted at sales points inside the park, quantities are limited and it sells out. So the honest workflow is: enter, look at the real queue times in the app, and buy the wristband on site only if the day justifies it. Any website quoting you a fixed official EasyPass price in advance is quoting something the operator itself does not publish. Which attractions the safari park's version covers is likewise not officially listed — ask at the sales point before paying.
The official Chimelong app is the operator's designated mobile channel: tickets, live waiting times, performance schedules and an electronic map for the whole resort. Download it before you arrive, load your tickets into it, and let it sequence the day — queue times at Paradise, show times at both parks. The official booking flow is Chinese-first across the website, WeChat and the app, which is precisely why the preparation steps in this guide happen the night before, at the hotel, with time to translate screens, rather than at the gate with a queue behind you.
Both parks empty toward the same metro station, and the free shuttles feed it steadily. Leave a few minutes before the closing surge or settle in for one last show and let it pass; Line 3 runs back toward the city centre and Line 7 connects to Guangzhou South for onward trains. If your hotel is inside the resort, the same shuttle loop covers the hotels. Keep enough phone charge for the metro QR and the ride home — the day that starts with a panda breakfast should not end with a dead battery at a ticket gate.
The facts the plan is built on
Chimelong Safari Park opened on 26 December 1997 and, by the operator's current wording, cares for more than 20,000 rare wild animals from over 500 species
Checked November 2026The safari park is home to the world's only surviving set of giant panda triplets and to the largest koala population outside Australia, both stated in the operator's own park description
Checked November 2026Safari park standard admission is ¥300 on ordinary days and ¥350 on specific days, and the operator's 2026 specific-day definition includes every weekend plus the full July–August summer period
Checked November 2026Chimelong Paradise opened on 7 April 2006; its standard ticket is a flat ¥250 with child, senior and concession tickets at ¥175 and youth tickets at ¥200
Checked November 2026Each paying adult may bring one child under 3 years old, or under 1.0 metre tall, into either park free; child tickets are defined by age 3 to under 12 or height 1.0–1.5 metres
Checked November 2026Entry across the resort has worked by swiping the identity document used at booking since 24 November 2020, and tickets are bought against the traveller's document details
Checked November 2026The EasyPass priority wristband excludes admission, is limited in quantity, and its prices are posted at in-park sales points — the operator publishes no fixed price list
Checked November 2026Metro Lines 3 and 7 serve Hanxi Changlong station; the resort's free shuttles run from the metro plaza to the parks and hotels, and Guangzhou South Station is about 10 minutes away on Line 7
Checked November 2026Paradise added six new rides in 2025, and the official notice board has carried announcements about retiring the ten-inversion coaster and upgrading the vertical coaster — headline-ride status must be checked per date
Checked November 2026In the safari park, operating summaries put the sightseeing train and self-drive area at roughly 9:30–16:30 and the cable car at 10:30–17:00, with seasonal adjustments — the last departures, not the closing time, bound the day
Checked November 2026Where this can still bite
Chimelong's official pages require a 'valid identity document' and, in the wording we could check, never say the word passport. Overseas sales channels do list overseas passports as accepted entry documents, and overseas visitors do enter this way in practice — but the explicit official sentence does not exist. Book with the passport number exactly as printed, carry the physical passport, and if your booking channel offers a non-mainland-visitor ticket type, prefer it over a domestic one.
Not this guide, not a reseller, not a tips video: the operator sells the priority wristband at prices posted inside the park, in limited quantity. Budget for it as an optional on-site purchase, decide from the app's live queue times, and treat any fixed 'official price' quoted online — especially for the safari park, whose covered attractions are not officially listed either — as invented.
The specific-day price is not a holiday-only trap: in the operator's 2026 definition every Saturday and Sunday is a specific day, as is the entire July–August school-holiday stretch. A family that budgets ¥300 a head and arrives on a summer Saturday pays ¥350 a head. Check the calendar classification of your exact date on the ticket page before you book anything else around it.
There is no single 'Chimelong Paradise opening time' to memorise: the park publishes hours per date, and event seasons stretch them late into the evening. Local listings that print one fixed schedule are simplifying. The night before, read the hours for your date on the official site or app and set the alarm accordingly.
The park's own notice board has announced the retirement of its ten-inversion coaster and an upgrade closure for its vertical coaster. Ride line-ups at a park this age rotate constantly. If one specific machine is the reason for your trip, verify its running status on the official notices for your date before paying; if it is closed, the 2025 intake of six new rides is the consolation, not a refund.
Driving your own car through the safari area needs a separate per-car ticket. We found third-party figures around ¥200 per car but no current official published price, so this guide does not quote one as fact. Confirm on the official ticket page or at the park before building a self-drive plan — or simply ride the sightseeing train, which needs no extra ticket.
Physically, yes — they sit in one resort on one metro station. Sensibly, almost never: the safari park's best hours are the morning and its key experiences end by late afternoon, so a same-day Paradise visit means either a rushed safari or a Paradise visit that starts as its own queues peak. With one day, choose the safari park; with two, the order in this guide applies.
It is Chinese-first on the website, WeChat and the app, and we found no official English booking channel. Overseas platforms selling Chimelong tickets in English, with international payment and passport entry, are the practical route for many visitors — buy only from established platforms, and make sure the ticket type you choose accepts a passport as the entry document.
Hanxi Changlong, on Metro Lines 3 and 7 — not Changlong stations in other cities, and not the safari park's road entrance. Exit E, five minutes on foot to the metro plaza, then the free shuttle to whichever park gate you need. From Guangzhou South Station it is about 10 minutes on Line 7.
Guangzhou summers are hot, humid and punctuated by heavy rain; animals retreat, outdoor queues become ordeals, and exposed rides can pause in severe weather. Early starts, the cable car as a midday rest, and a rain shell in the bag are not pessimism — they are the local operating conditions. In the worst weather, Paradise's indoor shows age better than a safari afternoon.
Ticket prices, day-type calendars, internal ride times and notice-board closures all move, sometimes monthly. Everything here was checked on 1 November 2026 against the operator's own pages; re-check the ticket page and the app for your date before you travel, and let the official page win any argument with this guide.
